OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO

OHTHEPLACESYOULLGO

This is the title of my favorite Dr. Seuss book. I gave it to my son when he graduated from college, and my grandson when he turned 5. I have read my copy so many times it’s frayed, frazzled, spilled upon, mulled over and raggedy, paggedy and jaggedy around the edges.

In the immortal words of the brilliant Doctor…”You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose….And you know what you know. Kid, you’ll move mountains. Today is your day! Your mountain (life) is waiting. So…get on your way!”

You have so very many places to go. Even if it’s walking the dog around the block, going to the grocery, a quiet walk in the woods or jogging on the beach. But, if you don’t know where you’re going how will you get there?

Another way to change into positive mode is to stop counting how many breaths you take each moment and become aware of how many moments take your breath away.

To celebrate the great Dr. in Seussian form I say:

No matter who you are,
man, woman or child,
angry, sad, exuberant or mild.
twenty something, forty,
sixty-two or ninety three
you still have many things to see!
you’re off to great places
with a whole lot more to do
your life is waiting, just for you!
whatever the matter, smile,
and breathe deeply into your day,
it’s time to get out of your own way!

If you’re in a slump do you know how to become “un-slumped”?

My book – Getting There…From Here can assist in that un-slump process if
you so choose to pick up a copy and get yourself off the shelf, out from under
the bed, down from the tree, uncovering your head.
